More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Inserting with VFC

When 'Inserting "{{speedy|F10}}"' with VFC as in Special:Diff/1014070216 (or the more expected "{{SD|F10}}"), please ensure that you terminate that line by tapping "Enter", to ensure that the next line is a proper heading. Speedy deletion

Hi Chuck!

I have carefully reviewed the licensing terms applicable to the image hosted on Wikimedia Commons at this link File:April 2025 eruption.png. As stated on the source page https://en.vedur.is/about-imo/the-web/conditions, “Unless stated otherwise, you are free to use photographs and data on the IMO websites and data servers; however, if the data are used for presentation, publication, or other development, reference must be made to the Icelandic Meteorological Office and the date of data downloading.” Accordingly, I have ensured that all required attributions—including the reference to the Icelandic Meteorological Office and the precise date of data retrieval—are properly included in the work, thereby fully complying with the stipulated terms.

Speedy Deletion - Indicating Source Is not Original

Hello, saw your speedy delete request for File:Matt Gay Super Bowl LVI Media Interview (cropped).png stating that youtube source file is not the original source. What are you thinking is the original source because that Youtube channel has done interviews with football players before? I'm only asking because you're saying that channel doesn't have the right to post the content under a CC but you didn't provide a link to the original source. Also, you do realize that file is a crop from File:Matt Gay CC.png which was originally uploaded on February 2024, I only updated the resolution and do a new crop. Appreciate the clarification.
